Even though home schooling recieves a lot of bad press these super successful members of the celebrity elite were home schooled and seem to have done pretty well as a result of it, or despite it if you rather…
1. Justin Bieber
It’s pretty clear why the Canadian singer wasn’t able to go to high school with his peers. He shot to fame when he was so bloody young. Despite him seeming like an absolute idiot, he did take a test that proved he graduated high school and Ellen DeGeneres organised a mock ceremony for him in 2012.
2. Taylor Swift
Now aged 25, America’s sweetest singer started her music career at just 14 years old. And for that reason she had to be homeschooled, an experience that she has spoken about with the press. Swift found it to be a great experience that allowed her to continue her education which is very important to her.
3. Justin Timberlake
The crooner was also a child star having starred in The All-New Mickey Mouse Club in the 90’s before going on to appear on Star Search when he was just 11 years old. So during the years that he would have been in middle school and junior high he was home schooled.
4. Hayden Panettiere
Blonde bombshell and Nashville star Panetierre has been in the acting business for a very long time. She first starred in a commercial when she was just 11 months old – it was obviously meant to be. So from the eighth grade onwards she was home schooled.
5. Whoopi Goldberg
Goldberg is a very familiar face in the celebrity world, she’s won tons of awards including an Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony and an Emmy – wowzers. What you might not have known, however, is that she was home schooled in her youth and that she is seen by many as an inspiration for having achieved such great success despite having dyslexia.
6. Venus and Serena Williams
Serena and her sister Venus are known as renowned tennis champs the world over, both having won titles from Wimbledon and many more prestigious awards. The pair were home schooled during their early teens so that they could focus on their tennis training, which obviously paid off.
7. Condoleezza Rice
The former secretary of state was homeschooled in the first grade by her mom because she was too young to attend classes. And at that age she was super smart. By the age of 6, she had already attained a fifth grade reading level and a third grade math level.
8. Woodrow Wilson
Wilson was the 28th American president and leader during the first World War. He was also homeschooled all the way until he was 16 years old before going to college. Saying Wilson did very well in education is an understatement, he later attended Princeton before going on to law school.
Although I’m personally an advocate of traditional schooling, home schooling did these celebs no harm whatsoever it seems. It’s not even just tweeny stars (who couldn’t finish high school because of their careers) that were home schooled either – great athletes and politicians also had the experience of home schooling and reaped the benefits.
